What We Mean by Environmental Noise

Environmental noise is unwanted or excessive sound generated by human activity, whether from construction equipment, industrial operations, oil and gas drilling, or infrastructure projects, that affects nearby communities, wildlife, or protected areas. Left unmanaged, it can lead to noise complaints, permit delays, regulatory fines, and strained relationships with neighbors and local agencies.

Environmental Noise Control exists to manage that impact before it becomes a problem. We measure existing conditions with ambient surveys, model how a project’s noise will travel and affect the surrounding area, and engineer and install the right combination of noise control products to keep projects on schedule and in compliance.

Learn More About Environmental Noise Control

Frequently Asked Questions About Environmental Noise Control (ENC)

What Does Environmental Noise Control Do?

Environmental Noise Control (ENC) is a full-service acoustical engineering firm. We measure, analyze, and mitigate noise and vibration for construction, oil and gas, data center, renewable energy, industrial, environmental, and entertainment projects, then install the solution ourselves rather than handing the project to a separate firm.

Is Environmental Noise Control the Same Company as Behrens & Associates?

Yes. Behrens & Associates, Inc. is our legal company name; Environmental Noise Control is the name we do business under. Donald Behrens founded the company in 1993, and it operates today as Environmental Noise Control, Inc.

How Long Has Environmental Noise Control Been in Business?

Donald Behrens founded the company in 1993. Since then, we’ve grown to serve clients across the commercial, industrial, construction, environmental, energy, and entertainment sectors throughout the United States and Canada.

What Industries Does ENC Serve?

We work across commercial, industrial, construction, environmental, energy, and entertainment projects, with active growth in data centers and renewable energy. Our client list includes municipalities, oil and gas operators, general contractors, studios, and public agencies.

Does ENC Only Sell Noise Control Products, or Handle Installation Too?

Both. ENC identifies the noise problem, engineers the solution, manufactures proprietary noise control materials, and installs them, so you’re working with one partner from the initial consultation through final installation instead of coordinating separate vendors.

Where Is Environmental Noise Control Located?

ENC is headquartered in El Segundo, California, with additional offices across the United States and Canada.
